reminder | Alien InLine 

We are looking forward to our residency with Alien InLine Skating next week. Our students learned how to inline skate very quickly last year. In order to participate, students MUST have their acknowledgement of risk forms signed and returned. Many thanks to our Cappy Parent Society and those who volunteered at the casino to earn funds for our school. Alien Inline would cost parents a substantial amount, but it has been completely paid through our society's and volunteer's fundraising work! If you see them, be sure to say thank you!

Students and staff will participate in connection building winter-themed activites throughout the week! Be sure to mark your calendar to remind you what to wear! 

  • Monday (Dec. 16): Candy Cane Day – Dress in candy cane-themed clothes. 
  • Tuesday (Dec. 17): Buddy Class Crafting A – Plan a craft activity with your buddy class. 
  • Wednesday (Dec 18): Winter/Holiday Clothes or Accessory Day – Get festive with your attire! 
  • Thursday (Dec. 19): Buddy Class Crafting B – A second day of crafting fun with your buddy class. 
  • Friday (Dec. 20): Slime Day & PJ/Comfy Cozy Day – Relax in comfy clothes and enjoy some slimy fun.

reminder | Extended Leave Forms 

While we do not encourage parents/guardians to take their children on trips during the school year, we recognize that many of our families do have a long way to travel to visit family. If your child is going to miss more than one week you are expected to fill out an extended leave form. This form is in the main office.

You will notice in our main office we have a new map and greetings in our many primary languages at Cappy Smart School. All families are invited to add a pin on the map to show where their home country is, and where they have lived before arriving in Calgary. Please swing by and add you pin.  I have included the greeting "Welcome to Cappy" in this email. If you find an error or if I have missed a language, please come to the office or email Ms. MacDonald to help her get it right! These are AI generated greetings and likely have errors!

alert | SCHOOL FEES  

We have noticed that many of our families owe quite a large sum in school fees. There is a lunchroom fee (across all of CBE elementary schools) and a school supply fee applied every year. Please check your PowerSchool account to see your fee balance.  

IMPORTANT, if you are lower income and you have either AlbertaWorks or City of Calgary Fair Entry, we can have your fees waived. Call the office to make an appointment with Ms. Agnes ASAP! We would like to help you if we can.  Waiver applications must be completed every school year.
