  • Drive Slowly.
  • Follow the traffic laws.
  • DO NOT cross anywhere but at a crosswalk.
  • ALWAYS stop for pedestrians, even those who are still not crossing at the crosswalk!
  • DO not have students exit your car on the road side, always have them exit the car on the sidewalk side of the car.
  • No U-Turns allowed. Drive around the block.
  • Find alternate parking OFF of Madigan Drive.
  • Families are responsible for ensuring the safe arrival of their children.
  • All children, staff and families deserve to feel safe on their way to and home from school.
  • Keep calm and be patient. Always show courtesy and avoid getting angry. Everyone's child, schedule, and life matters. There is no reason that you need to rush; always leave earlier to avoid stress.
  • Yelling and getting angry helps no one and most certainly, it does not help our children.
  • We are a community. Communities who work together, look after each other, and stay kind are  stronger and healthier.  Be Kind. Be Courageous. Be Cappy Smart!

impacts | Labour Action at CBE School

I am sure you are aware, as you have received messaging from CBE that on Feb. 19, 2025, CUPE Local 40 served 72-hour strike notice to the CBE. This means that the union will withdraw services beginning Monday, Feb. 24, 2025.

CBE is prioritizing in-person learning during labour action. All schools and buildings will remain open and classes will continue. We are committed to ensuring schools remain a place where students, staff and families feel valued, supported and safe. However, a strike will have an impact on schools and operations.

Cancelled CLUBS at Cappy (for the duration of job action)

  • Bridge Club and Girl's Sports Club is cancelled for the duration of the CUPE Local 40 Job Action.

Clubs that CAN continue, at this time

  • Boy's Sports Club and Homework Club can continue for now, but will be re-assessed if the Labour Action Continues.

meeting | School Council and Parent Society

Cappy School Council and Parent Society will be meeting on Monday, Feb 24 at 1:15 pm. If you are not currently a part of the Council but would like to join, please check in at the main office and Ms. Agnes will direct you to our meeting.

community thank you | Swimming

I sincerely hope our students and families enjoyed the swimming experience. A HUGE thank you to Ms. Norrie and our incredible volunteers. Belinda, you were the volunteer coordinator star, helping Ms. Norrie keeping everyone on track and ensuring that our students were safe and cared for!  So many parents spent many hours volunteering at Bob Bahan pool just to ensure that our students could participate in lessons. The cost of swimming would be much higher for parents (approx. $45/child)  and might have not been possible without two things: 1. Casino Charity funds, and 2. Private Donations from Calgary citizens who wish to see children having great experiences.  Again, I personally also wanted to express huge appreciation to our Parent Society & Council and the volunteers & staff members who spent days volunteering at the Pure Casino in the fall. Without your time and effort, Cappy might not have been able to go swimming!

Thank you for your support Cappy families. When school and home work together, we create strong communities.

Rachel MacDonald, Principal

Be kind. Be courageous. Be Cappy Smart!
