Hi Cappy Families,
It's been another exciting week at Cappy Smart School. We have had three live duck births this week! The grade 1 & 2 classes, led by Ms. Kelly, have had the joy of welcoming three lovely ducks to the world. So far they have named 2 of the 3, Pekkle and Bumblebee. They have been carefully looking after the incubator for weeks, and been joyfully tracking the live births. Very exciting!
Please Help Keep Cappy Clean and Safe!
With the coming of good weather, we have also noticed an uptick in activity around our building. Most of the activity has been great! Lots of kids playing basketball, playing in the park, riding their bikes, trying out new roller blades, etc. Unfortunately not all of the activity is has been positive.
We love having people use our facilities outside of school time, but we DO NOT love picking up smashed glass, people's garbage, and washing graffiti off the walls. Please help Cappy Smart School and the Marlborough Park community by keeping watch while on the school grounds, and reminding all people that it is not okay to deface or destroy property. You can always report to us if you notice things happening after school that shouldn't be; it takes a whole community of people to ensure safety and wellbeing. These actions (like chalk graffiti, smashing bottles, littering) may seem like they are not hurting anyone, but they cause a lot of work, lost time, and money. The impact is felt by our students, our staff, our facility operator and the CBE grounds teams. I appreciate your help in keeping our community welcoming, respectful, caring and safe for all!
Volunteer Tea – Friday, May 24 At 10 am
If you volunteered this year, you should've received an invite from our Grade 3 leadership students. Please RSVP to Ms. Malcolm to let us know if you will be joining our thank you celebration!
Healthy Hunger Volunteers needed – May 2 at 12:00 pm
We are looking for two volunteers to help organize and distribute our Lunch Lady Healthy Hunger on May 2. We would need you at 12:00 pm – approximately 1:00 pm. Volunteers must have the volunteer clearance. Please call or email the main office if you are able to help us. Thank you in advance.
Patrols and the upcoming Patrollers Picnic
Our Patrol start-up has been a huge success this year! Thank you to all our Patrollers for your dedication to helping our community and students be safe in their travels to and from school. We are so impressed with your leadership, consistency and teamwork. If families and students see our Patrollers at the crosswalk, please acknowledge the great job they are doing.
To show appreciation for all their hard work, Patrollers from around Calgary and the area are invited by AMA to an annual picnic at Heritage Park. Our students will be attending the picnic on Wednesday June 5. Patrollers will be provided a lunch and will have the opportunity to participate in various games, challenges, and competitions. We will need several volunteers to join us for this trip. Volunteers do not need to be family members of Patrollers, but we do still require that you have your volunteer clearance. Please call or email Ms. Khulbe (mkhulbe@cbe.ab.ca) if you are able to come. Thank you.
