Dear Cappy Families,
We have had many exciting residencies at Cappy! Last week we welcomed Chantal Chagnon, Cree8, to our school to lead drumming and story-telling sessions. The students sang alongside with Chantal, whilst drumming on her handmade drums. Be sure to ask your students about the Cree Turtle Island and creation story. We loved having Ms. Chantal at Cappy for the week!

May, Dates of Significance: Diversity and Inclusion
The Calgary Board of Education strives for all our schools to be safe and caring places for all students and staff. We applaud all the work that CappySmart and all CBE schools do to embrace diversity and make our school board one that welcomes and celebrates students and staff from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and beliefs. The dates of significance are found here on the Canadian Government website as well.
Here are May's dates of significance:
Volunteers Needed
We have seen a wonderful increase in our number of parent volunteers. We need parent volunteers at Cappy school! Without enough volunteers we are unable to provide field trip opportunities for our students. The process for volunteer clearance has changed this year. The CBE Volunteer Page (https://cbe.ab.ca/get-involved/volunteer/Pages/volunteer.aspx has information about how to be a volunteer. Our main office will answer any questions about this process as well.
Reminder – inform the office if your children will not be attending Cappy next school year
Are you moving or planning to go to a new school? If so, please let the office and/or your teacher know. We never want students to leave us, but we know that many of our families are moving to new communities. Thanks so much for helping us keep track of our enrollments, as it helps us with planning for next year.
