Dear Cappy Families,

I am writing to you with some important reminders. It is critical that you are reading school emails as this is our main way to communicate. Also, many families have NOT signed up for text messages, which we also use for brief reminders and emergency messaging. Parents and guardians are responsible for signing up for communication, ensuring our school messenger emails are not blocked and lastly, reading school communication. 

  • Grade 2 and 6 students received a form from Alex Dental Health. The Alex society brings a fully equipped mobile dental office (a bus) and comes to our school to do free dental check ups.  This is an excellent opportunity, however your child will ONLY recieve the free dental check ups (once in the fall and once again in the spring) if the form is returned. The dental forms are due tomorrow. 
  • ALL students at Cappy have the opportunity for a free eye exam from Nation's Vision. They will have a clinic at Cappy Smart school the first week of November. Nation's Vision is a reputable eye care provider and will provide any child who has not yet accessed eyecare for this year in the community an annual eye exam. They will also support any family who cannot afford glasses to get glasses for their children. It is recommended that all children have an eye exam once per year. Again, forms have gone home and must be returned by Oct 18, but sooner is better. 
  • We are starting to do more field trips and one of our trips might have to be cancelled due to lack of parent volunteers. The grade 2-3 (Ms. Sibilo and Ms. Peers) team is seeking any parent with volunteer clearance to accompany their classes to Saftey City on Thursday morning. We may have to cancel the field trip as we do not have enough staff to send to cover the required supervision. If we do cancel, a notice will be sent to families tomorrow.
  • Ms. Mahon's and Mr. Thomson's Grade 6 students will be leaving on the charter bus at 9:30 am sharp tomorrow morning and heading to Tim Horton's Outdoor School. If your grade 6 child arrives after this time, it will be the responsiblity of the parent to get their child to camp. We will not be able to hold the bus. Please be timely. ALL other grade 6's who are not attending camp are expected to be at school and programming will continue here with a guest teacher and Mr. Saini and Ms. Murphy.
