Hello Cappy Families,

It was lovely to see so many of our families and their students at the school for Parent Teacher interview.  During these interviews you will have heard that we are really focusing on building student independence this year through home practice and agendas, and reminding them that it is there job to make sure they are ready for school and dressed for the weather!

We have heard appreciation from many of our families for the home practice and for the great work our staff does to support and teach our students. We are very proud of the progression our learners are making here at Cappy.

If you were unable to attend an interview, please be sure to connect with your child's teacher to talk about their next steps in learning at school.

The Alex Dental Health Bus – Tuesday, Oct 24

Students in grade 2 are eligible for a free oral health check up. Only those students who have returned their consent  forms will be able to have their teeth checked.

Parent Council – In Person in the Learning Commons  Wednesday, Oct 25, 5:30 pm

We will be having our second Parent Council meeting of the year this Wednesday evening. During our meetings we talk about the school, ask questions, and hear a teacher's report. We also plan fundraisers and events.

Our council has done amazing work organizing and funding community events like Paint Night and Movie Night. We have been able to purchase many items to support our students, because of the council!  Here are just a few of the recent equipment and items we have purchased through council funds! As you can see, we have purchased magnetic letters for students to learn to read, walkie talkies so each member of staff can have a one that works, and some equipment for the movement room. Our students love the new items!

Staffing Updates

We have been fortunate enough to be able to hire another teacher for our school. Ms. Joelle Crosby has joined our staff in a part-time position. Ms. Crosby is teaching literacy and math interventions, and EES PE for two of our classes. Welcome to our community Ms. Crosby!

Notice of Radon testing at school

Testing involves hanging a small, round testing device (alpha tracker) for 91 days from the ceiling in areas of the school that are occupied 4 or more hours a day. The device is passive, which means it omits no information, sounds, or smells.

If you would like to learn more about radon, please visit Health Canada’s website: https://www.canada.ca/en/healt...
